There is a global repair revolution underway, with Repair Cafes popping up all over the United States to reduce landfill waste and lower carbon footprints. On May 28, 2024, Governor Jared Polis signed Colorado’s third Right to Repair law in three years, further cementing the state’s leadership in protecting consumers’ repair rights. The law took effect on January 1, 2026, officially establishing Colorado as a Right to Repair state. To learn more, visit the Colorado Public Interest Research Group (CoPIRG).
Do you have a flickering lamp, a bike with a flat, a chair with a broken rung, or a favorite garment with a hole? Don’t replace them, bring them to the repair café and work with a repair coach to fix your cherished items. The fix is free, and you can learn how it’s done while enjoying a cup of coffee in community with others.
Volunteering as a repair coach at a Repair Cafe is a hands-on way to support your community by helping people fix beloved items instead of throwing them away. It’s about sharing practical skills, reducing waste, and empowering others to see that repair is possible—one small fix at a time.
Beyond repair coaches, volunteering at the Repair Cafe can include welcoming guests, assisting with check-in, organizing tools and materials, serving refreshments, or helping with event setup and promotion. Every role plays a part in creating a warm, community-centered space where neighbors connect and learn.
“Somewhere in the teachings of every wisdom tradition on earth is the admonition to “make whole that which is broken.”
